Introduction Blog Post

 Hi, my name is Shani Freedman, and I will be creating a chic fashion magazine that focuses on summer....the best time of the year!!! I will be following the niche genre of focusing on people who love fashion like I do and enjoy dressing elegantly for summer. This is by far one of my favorite things to research. Clothing, jewelry, shoes and make-up...this is my haven.

 

I will be designing and creating a fashion magazine that focuses primarily on summer fashion.   I chose this genre over other passions of mine such as food, travel, and real estate because fashion is what can put me in a great mood. When I am in a bad mood, I will head over to one of my favorite malls and just shop away. I feel that I can make a very successful magazine that will attract many people who enjoy fashion as much as I do. I have read hundreds of fashion magazines, so this was a definite way to go for me in a magazine genre.  

 

I am obsessed with fashion! Aside from clothing, I love shoes and accessories as well. I want to be able to provide my readers with images and articles that allow them to choose their “fits” after viewing the stylish ensembles my magazine will provide. 

 

My target audience are women from ages 16-60. I do not know any men that enjoy reading fashion magazines. This is not geared to children or preteens at all.

Some potential social issues could be about body image. Women who are overweight may not be able to relate unless there are plus size options. 

Looking at some models in the magazines can lead to eating disorders or just being dissatisfied with your body. 

Garment workers are making less than minimum wage and work extremely long hours. 

I may be using editing software such as Adobe Photoshop. 

I will be using Canva to design my magazine since I already paid for the advanced features, and I feel very comfortable using it. I can do everything on Canva. I can upload my photos and text can be typed directly on Canva. I plan to continue my research and use many basic conventions that make up a fashion magazine and find out why each magazine creates the layout they do. Next, I will practice taking pictures of models (friends) wearing beautiful summer clothing and work on placing them within my magazine.  

Some of my feature stories or articles may be about: Celebrity news and fashion, 2024 Hairstyles and makeup trends, A shoe shopping guide, Fashion Accessories, Red carpet moments 

I am so excited to create this summer fashion magazine! Let the creativity begin.
